The township rides along Illinois highway route 13 and converges with Illinois Highway 15 and 159. Some of the largest residential areas include Hickory Lake, Hickory Village and two presently unnamed subdivisions, one once being called Heritage Estates, which as since lost it's name after participation in the neighborhood's home owner's association dropped in the early 1980s. The zipcode for the township is 62223. The telephone code of the township is 618.
